Mother Block Skin Contact
The Mother Block Skin Contact is a perfect entry point into a the wonderful world of white wines that have been fermented on skins. Adding texture and grip on the palate, it amplifies the aromas and flavours of the wine. The nose shows lively pineapple, feijoa and guava, with zesty lemon and limes, vietnamese mint, coconut water and a mineral river stone. Medium bodied with bitter lemon, almond, hazelnut and pistachio, juicy cantaloupe and custard apple the finish is chalky and grippy with a herbal lift.
Our Mother Block range is at the heart of the Chalmers operation and showcases the source block from which we propagate our vines for the nursery from. These certified sustainable mother blocks are their new adopted home for our 30+ Italian varieties that thrive in the warm conditions of the Murray Darling under the vast canopy of the big blue sky.
Not unlike the Mother Block White, the Skin Contact White is based on Vermentino, the makeup will change slightly from vintage to vintage, with likely inclusions of Fiano, Greco, Verdicchio, Grechetto among others. The fruit is kept cool and fermented in stainless steel tank on skins between 7-14 days. It is then pressed and returned back to tank to age on lees for added textured and complexity.
